NGP VAN Promotes “Rising Star” to Chief Operating Officer

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, NGP VAN, the nation’s leading technology provider to thousands of Democratic and progressive campaigns and organizations including President Obama’s reelection, announced the promotion of Senior Vice President John Lee to Chief Operating Officer.

In his new role as Chief Operating Officer, John Lee will drive the continued integration and convergence of NGP VAN’s product suite across organizing, fundraising, and digital, furthering the company mission of “All Your Campaign Technology.  Integrated.”  To that end, he will be leading, shaping, and growing the high-performing development teams that build and support NGP VAN’s industry leading product suite.
 
Prior to the merger of NGP and VAN in 2011, Lee led Voter Activation Network as its Chief Operating Officer, guiding the growth of the organization while managing high profile projects such as VAN's integration with Blue State Digital for Obama for America’s “Neighbor-to-Neighbor” program in 2008.
 
Since the merger, Lee has been serving as Senior Vice President of NGP VAN, steering the development of the VAN product by working closely with cornerstone clients such as the Democratic National Committee, AFL-CIO, SEIU, and America Votes.  
 
He also aided in the vision and execution of NGP VAN's innovative new Social Organizing product, which allows supporters of a campaign or cause to match their Facebook friends to the voter file and then take part in a variety of campaign activities like voter identification, volunteer recruitment, grassroots fundraising, and getting out the vote. Tech President said Social Organizing "has the potential to change the way campaigns work."
 
Finally, Lee led NGP VAN's mobile technology strategy via MiniVAN, continuing on the mission that VAN started when it first moved campaigns from soggy clipboards of voter rolls and precinct maps to the digital age.
 
Earlier this year, Campaigns & Elections magazine named Lee as one of its “Rising Stars.”
