WASHINGTON, DC – Today, NGP VAN, the leading technology provider to thousands of Democratic and progressive campaigns and organizations, announced the launch of Social Organizing, providing clients with the ability to have supporters match their Facebook friends to the voter file as they take part in everyday campaign activities like voter identification and persuasion, grassroots fundraising, rally crowd building, volunteer recruitment, get out the vote (GOTV) activities, and much more.
"We all know the best organizing happens when supporters approach people they know personally. That’s why field organizers love it when volunteers go door-to-door in their own neighborhoods," said Stuart Trevelyan, NGP VAN’s CEO. He continued, "With tens of millions of voters visiting Facebook each day to communicate with their friends and family, it was only natural for NGP VAN to create Social Organizing and connect its industry leading voter contact and organizing tools with the social networking giant."

Using Social Organizing, supporters log into the website of a Democratic or progressive campaign or organization, match their Facebook and other friends to their voter file in VAN (Voter Activation Network), and then complete tasks like running a virtual phone bank to persuade their friends and targeted voters or emailing their connections as part of a grassroots fundraising effort. Social Organizing then encourages supporters on to greater activity through game dynamics like achievement badges and supporter leaderboards. As an added benefit, Social Organizing enhances the voter file clients use for the rest of their field and voter contact work by adding valuable relationship and other information to the voter file in the VAN. And as always, NGP VAN will continue to augment Social Organizing with innovative updates that give clients an edge and harness the power of the evolving social media landscape.
Social Organizing is the only tool of its kind that is fully integrated with NGP VAN’s field and voter contact tools – the same tools already in use by thousands of Democratic and progressive campaigns, issue advocacy organizations, labor unions, and political action committees around the country.
"Adding Social Organizing to NGP VAN’s suite of time-tested voter contact tools is an incredibly powerful combo for our clients," said Trevelyan. He concluded, "Hands down, Social Organizing is the best way for campaigns to bolster their ground game and leverage social networks to their advantage. To succeed in November, Democrats and progressives must deploy every tool at their disposal."
