Campaign finance reports, the 21st century way

March 20, 2013 | NGP VAN

We normally don’t get involved in individual issues, but campaign finance reports are sort of our thing.  We wanted to let you know that we support Senator John Tester’s Senate Campaign Disclosure Parity Act, S. 375.

Unlike Presidential or House candidates, candidates for the U.S. Senate are the only federal candidates still not required to submit campaign finance disclosures electronically.

Electronic filing is easier, faster, more efficient, and more accessible. As proven by the recent Presidential campaign, the system is well built to handle this data and makes it easier for citizens to access, while also promoting transparency and good government. Thousands of pages of paper are saved each year, and money and time aren’t wasted on printing, shipping, and filing the paper documents.

This is a bill with wide bipartisan support that will help bring our federal government into the 21st century. We hope you’ll reach out to your legislators and ask them to support it!
